Navy Day (El Día de la Marina) is celebrated in all of Mexico's port towns on June 1st; commemorating men and women who have participated in naval service of past and present. The morning festivities begin with boats launching into Banderas Bay for a flower wreath ceremony on the water. It is then followed by festivities and tournaments at sea, along with celebrations on the beaches and docks, and dancing into the night.
